Stayed here for 11 days to end off my internship— So close to the Capitol office buildings and the Library of Congress! Super clear check in instructions and a really cute place. It gets a little loud because its on a busy street but it never woke me up at night. Because it is a basement unit you cant really have the blinds open for safety reasons (lots of people walking by) but it feels bright enough regardless. I am a woman and felt very safe walking alone in the area even at night! Lots of good restaurants in walking distance. Highly recommend this for other interns working on the hill!Show more The location for the place was great. Everything that we wanted to see was within a reasonable distance with great options for food nearby. The host let us check in 2 hours early without any extra charge due to the storm. We really appreciate their kindness and understanding.
However this is the first place that I had to clean before being able to settle in. Floors were filthy, air conditioning vents had residue from mold and bacteria on them. The kitchen counter was covered in grease from prior guest’s cooking. We needed to use an extra blanket but it smelled. We decided to wash the blanket first, the washing machine seal was covered in thick mold. It was disappointing to say the least.Show more I was happy with the location of the place it was close to everything including the museums and monuments. The place could have been cleaned better before our arrival. While we there we washed clothes and discovered black mold in the washer around the seal, not sure if this is typical for a front loader or not but needed to be cleaned. After a couple days of being there I discovered a large dying cockroach in the kitchen floor that must have gotten into some type of poison. I also discovered another dead cockroach in the laundry room which was smaller. This did raise concerns because of having an 8 month old baby that was crawling on the floor and attempting to put his mouth on everything. Overall the hosts were accommodating and very responsive but could really use some better attention to cleanliness and some updates for the price we paid.Show more
