U Street was once truly the heart of Black culture in America, attracting locals and visitors for an unparalleled music and nightlife scene. Perhaps not coincidentally, it’s also the birthplace of celebrated DC hero, jazz musician Duke Ellington. Today, this section of the city is as vibrant as ever, anchored by the lively 14th Street corridor to the west and the refurbished Howard Theatre bordering the Shaw neighborhood to the east, where a towering sculpture in reverence to Ellington stands.
Food is eclectic and exciting. One of the best ways to experience the food in the neighborhood is on a Forks Food Tour. From soul food to Italian to the world-famous Ben’s Chili Bowl and its signature half-smoke sausage, the area's a cornucopia of eats to be excited about. And uniquely, on the eastern end, you’ll find a handful of homey eateries in an area known as “Little Ethiopia” for its concentration of residents from that country. If you’ve never eaten with your hands before, now’s your chance.
Cap off your U Street adventure with a scoop or two from Ice Cream Jubilee, a homegrown ice cream shop with fun and creative flavors. Plus, there’s a Saturday farmers’ market at U and 14th streets, and plenty of coffee shops to get your caffeine fix.
It’s both historic and colorful, boasting some of the richest culture of the city and full of bars, restaurants, and boutiques – as well as plenty of DC locals who come to enjoy the culture and the people-watching.
A diversity of funky boutique shops abound, for clothing, decor and records; and a new bar seemingly opens up every weekend. The best way to take it all in is just taking a stroll, day or night.

1) Our properties are protected by SUPERHOG. Please note that if you book a short-term rental (under 30 days), you will be contacted by SUPERHOG directly to verify yourself. Please make sure this is completed prior to check-in.
2) Please confirm that you accept the following House Rules and Responsibilities on behalf of yourself and guests. A violation of the House Rules can result in an immediate termination of your reservation without refund.
For the comfort of our guests, residents and members of the Sojourn team, smoking of any kind (marijuana, cigarettes, or vaping) is not permitted anywhere in the interior of our building or within fifty (50) feet of our building, including outdoor spaces. Should our team or neighbors report the odor of smoke we will contact the booking service, terminate your stay, claim any and all damages and post the appropriate review.
Parties and events are strictly prohibited. All Sojourn homes are equipped with noise monitoring devices (decibel readers), your privacy is safe however, noise levels exceeding normal levels are grounds for ending your stay and are strictly enforced. In the event we are notified of any excess noise, music, gathering or parties a Sojourn representative will respond and your reservation will be terminated without refund. Please also note that all Sojourn buildings and homes are equipped with some type of exterior camera that records the exterior and common areas to include all entries to the building.
What NOT to Flush Down the Toilet or put down drains or in the garbage disposal - If found that these cause plumbing issues Sojourn can and will charge the guest.

3) If you are booking a flat that allows pets the pet fee is $75 per pet per week. This only applies to pet friendly listings.
4) We are happy to provide both a Pack and Play and/or high chair. These must be reserved in advance and a $25 rental fee will be charged.
5) If you are booking a flat in Washington DC, we have several parking options. Please inquire about advanced parking pass or parking space reservations.
5) There may be times where the home needs unexpected, or scheduled preventative maintenance. While we do our best not to interrupt your stay with us, sometimes this cannot be avoided thus Sojourn reserves the right to gain access to the properties at any time, after providing our guests with 24 hour written notice.View More
