A friend and I stayed in this airbnb for a ten week period this summer as we worked summer jobs. Up until about the day before our stay ended, I was fully expecting to give this airbnb a 4/5 star experience. The 1 star being docked because the the master bedroom does not have any closet space whatsoever-- it came with a hanging rod, about 8 hangers, and a plastic caddy with minimal shelving overall, which took me by surprise considering this is a long stay airbnb, and the bed itself in the master was incredibly hard. I was, however, consistently impressed with the staff at Sojourn and how quickly they responded to any questions or concerns, as well as how well supplied/stocked the kitchen was and the general location of this airbnb.
The day before we left, however, I got a call from the Sojourn team, asking if we would feel comfortable if someone from their team came into the apartment to install a table for the next guest. Because we were packing up from a ten-week stay and because the apartment is fairly small, my roommate and I refused the request-- we had our things all about the place and it was hectic packing up before having to leave the next morning. When I got back to the apartment after work, however, I noticed that a large carboard box had been placed in the apartment in the hallway/kitchen area which contained the unassembled five-piece table, as well as a few smaller boxes stacked against the door leading to the fire escape. This meant that despite the published airbnb policy that they would not enter the unit unless there was an emergency or received explicit consent, someone entered our unit and placed materials for the next guest after we explicitly denied them entry. When I raised this with the team, they did apologize and had someone come out later that day to remove the boxes, but it did not change the fact that my roommate and I felt uncomfortable, and the living agreement was violated. They followed up with a message on the app explaining that they will be reevaluating their policies following our experience, but I felt like the only honest review I could give would have to reflect that this substantial violation of their policies occurred during our stay.
I hope that the Sojourn Team does follow through with their initiatives to improve communication among staff members regarding entering units, but, it was disturbing to experience this oversight and intrusion particularly during an already stressful time.Show more
